In January 2024, The Des Moines Register reported that Iowa ranks last in the U.S. for the number of state psychiatric beds per 100,000 residents. Approximately 84,000 Iowans live with severe mental illness, but only 35,000 are able to receive treatment in a given year.
As the first private free-standing psychiatric hospital in the state of Iowa, Eagle View Behavioral Health is helping to expand care options for Iowans in need. Located in Bettendorf, our 72-bed facility provides treatment options for both teens and adults. Our facility accepts most private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. Payment plans and financial assistance may also be available.
We Understand Your Struggle
Living with mental health challenges can feel like navigating a maze without a compass. Some of the common conditions we can address with our personalized treatment programs include:
- Anxiety disorders. Anxiety can feel like a constant state of alertness, with your mind racing through worst-case scenarios and your body in perpetual fight-or-flight mode. We help you find calm amidst the storm if you’re struggling with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, or specific phobias.
- Bipolar disorder. The highs and lows of bipolar disorder can be exhausting, like being on an emotional rollercoaster you can’t escape. Our treatment helps stabilize these mood swings, allowing you to find balance and regain control of your life.
- Dual diagnosis. When mental health issues and substance use intertwine, it can feel like being caught in a complex web. Our dual diagnosis program addresses both aspects simultaneously—helping you untangle these interconnected challenges so you can stay sober and get the support you need to manage your mental health.
- Schizophrenia. The distorted perceptions and thoughts associated with schizophrenia can make the world feel confusing and frightening. We work with you to distinguish reality from delusions and hallucinations, helping you build a more stable sense of self and the world around you.
- Depression. Depression can feel like carrying a heavy weight that colors everything in shades of gray. Our treatments aim to lighten this burden so you can rediscover joy and purpose in your daily life.
- Suicidal ideation. When life feels unbearable and thoughts of ending it all persist, know that you’re not alone. We provide a safe space to express suicidal ideation without judgment, and we’ll work with you to find reasons for living and strategies to cope with overwhelming emotions.
Our Comprehensive Care Approach Helps You Begin a Journey of Healing
You can think of our treatment approach like tending to a garden. We start by clearing the weeds (assessing and diagnosing), then we nurture the soil (rapid stabilization), and finally, we provide ongoing care to help your mental health flourish (long-term support).
Our treatment options include three main program types:
- Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Program. This short-term, intensive treatment option is designed to provide personalized care in a 24/7 inpatient setting. Inpatient care is offered for both adolescents (ages 12 and up) and adults, with around-the-clock monitoring and support. Additionally, we offer a specialized dual diagnosis track within this program for adults who are dealing with both mental health concerns and substance use issues.
- Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This program is tailored for individuals with primary psychiatric disorders who require significant support and structure but do not need overnight or round-the-clock inpatient care. Patients in this program attend treatment at our facility for six hours per day, five days a week and return home in the evenings. This setup provides a robust therapeutic environment while still allowing patients to practice newly learned skills in real-world settings. The PHP serves as an excellent step-down option for those transitioning from inpatient care or as an alternative to hospitalization for those who need more support than traditional outpatient services can offer.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers a flexible treatment option for both adults and adolescents who don’t require the level of structure provided in a full-day program. Think of our IOP as part-time outpatient treatment, providing a therapeutic environment for further stabilization for three hours per day. This schedule enables patients to manage other commitments with family, work, or other treatment professionals while still receiving significant support. We also offer a specialized Dual Diagnosis IOP for individuals with a primary mental health concern and co-occurring issues with alcohol and/or opioid use.
